Derby Chess Club’s October tournament was themed around the King’s Gambit. Plenty of fireworks, during four rounds of high octane chess!
The first “Friendly Shield” tournament of the season was a great success. Members, new and old, fought for mastery of the 64 squares in a four-round quick-play.
On Tuesday (06/05/25), we revisited Chess 960 for our final “first Tuesday of the month” social event for the 24/25 season. With 20 players this was the biggest turnout for our events so far!
March’s special event was an “odds” tournament, where a sliding scale of handicaps was applied to the stronger player in each game.
