Derby B produced a gutsy team performance to beat Rolls-Royce B and haul themselves out of the relegation zone. With a final home game against Breadsall still to come, First Division survival is very much in their own hands.
Derby B battled well despite being a player down, pushing a strong Burton & Lichfield side all the way before narrowly losing the match. A strong attacking display from Skott and a solid draw on board three highlighted a resilient team performance.
Derby B returned from Chesterfield with a valuable draw after a competitive match highlighted by Skott’s impressive attacking victory on board one. Justin came close to adding a second win in a sharp game, while solid draws elsewhere ensured the team shared the points.
Derby B produced an excellent 2½–1½ victory over Breadsall, overcoming a higher overall grading to claim a deserved win. Strong attacking play on boards three and four laid the foundation, with a timely draw on board one securing the match.
With some last minute availability issues a depleted B team slid to an hard fought defeat against Rolls Royce A.
The form book was firmly thrown aside as Derby B claimed bragging rights in a tense local derby. A series of dramatic swings decided the match and brought an end to Derby A’s unbeaten start.
Derby B produced a strong all-round performance to secure a 2–2 draw at home on 16 December, with a fine win on board four and solid draws elsewhere giving the team chances to take even more from the match. The result marked a clear step forward, showing resilience and improved consistency across the boards.
The Derby B team faced a tough test at home on 9 December, losing to a higher-rated Belper side. Despite reaching playable positions on all boards and a determined fight on board one, missed tactical moments allowed Belper to take control and secure the win.
Derby B rose to the challenge against higher-rated opposition, earning a brilliant 2½–1½ victory over Chesterfield. A trio of fighting draws and a thrilling Board 3 finish completed a memorable underdog triumph.
A fine team effort saw Derby B share the points with Rolls-Royce A in a hard-fought Division 1 match.
A tough 4–0 loss for the B Team against a powerful Lichfield/Burton side, but plenty of determination was shown throughout. The team remain positive and ready to bounce back.
Both our top two teams both are in the 1st Division this season. They started their 2025/26 campaigns with a clash against each other. In a hard fought match the A team took the win.
