Jamboree Success for Derby Teams

The annual DCA (Derbyshire Chess Association) Jamboree was held on the 15th May. Over 90 players across 23 teams participated, celebrating another successful season of chess in the county.

Six Derby Chess Club teams took part across the three separate sections.

In the Cup (open to all) Derby A won by a clear margin. Congratulations to John, Dave W, Steve and Skott. This is the third year in a row that Derby have won this competition! John managed an individual score of 4/4 - also the third consecutive year he has managed this feat. Skott was not far behind on 3½. The B team came seventh.

In the Plate (under 1650 grade) the D team came fifth and the C team eighth. Both teams largely consisted of new members who have little experience of over the board competitive chess. They acquitted themselves superbly.

In the Juniors we had three teams involved. Derby Juniors A won the competition by 3½ points. A superb result for Karan, Nishkal, Nick and Yedidia. In second place was Derby Juniors B. Derby Juniors C came eighth. Individually Karan scored 4/4 with Nishkal, Yedidia and Wictor (B team) with 3½.

An excellent night for the club!

Below is are a selection of our players - mostly deep in thought!
