Derby E were narrowly beaten 2½–1½ by Rolls Royce F on Thursday 2nd April 2026, with Josh’s composed win the highlight of the evening. The match also marked the 18th different player to represent the team this season, underlining the success of its development-focused approach.
Derby E were narrowly defeated 2½–1½ by Belper E on Tuesday 10th March 2026 in a match that remained competitive across all boards. Jake’s impressive kingside attack and checkmating finish provided the highlight of the evening, while Chris secured a solid draw in a hard-fought endgame.
Derby E secured a hard-fought 2½–1½ away win at Burton & Lichfield on 23rd February 2026, moving into second place in Division 4. A rollercoaster victory for Chris, a resilient finish from Duncan, and determined play across the boards proved decisive in a tense and dramatic evening.
Derby E shared the points in an entertaining 2–2 draw with Belper F, featuring bold exchanges, tactical strikes, and a dramatic time scramble on the top board. Despite technical mishaps and late substitutions, the evening delivered excitement, resilience, and plenty of club-room theatre.

A team of newer players took to the boards for Derby E’s third match of the season, gaining more valuable experience against a strong Burton & Lichfield side. Although the visitors edged the result 2½–1½, the evening was full of learning, good spirit, and steady progress — everything the Chess Forge is about.
A completely new line-up travelled to Belper for the E team’s second Derbyshire League match, continuing the club’s aim of giving as many players as possible a taste of over-the-board chess. Despite a 3½–½ loss, the evening was full of learning, camaraderie, and the true spirit of the Chess Forge.
In their very first match the new E team exceeded expectations by achieving a draw against Wirksworth Feathers.
