Tough Night for Derby C against Rolls Royce

On Tuesday (20/1/26) Derby C faced a strong Rolls Royce C side at home and found themselves on the wrong end of a 3½–½ scoreline, despite several competitive positions across the boards.

On board one, Dave fought hard but was unable to turn the tables after coming under sustained pressure and eventually went down. Shah secured Derby’s only points of the night with a solid draw on board two, while Carl and Matthew both battled through the middlegame before conceding in difficult endgames. The final scoreline was a harsh reflection of the resistance shown, but Rolls Royce proved clinical when it mattered.
